I believe small things can make a big difference.
My crafting business began back in 2012, during a difficult time when illness meant I had to give up my job in retail. What later became Wishful Stitches started with a simple handmade dream catcher for my daughter - and a hope to bring her a little comfort when she needed it most.
My daughter was struggling with nightmares after an electric shock, and when I could not find a dream catcher in the shops, I decided to make one myself. Seeing the smile on her face when it was finished made every bit of effort worthwhile. Before long, my son wanted one too, and that little beginning became the start of something very special.
From there, my love of crafting grew. I began exploring different materials, adding beads and charms, and creating bracelets, keyrings and other thoughtful little gifts. I dreamed of owning an embroidery machine, but at the time it was out of reach, so I kept creating in the ways I could.
Over the years, my health has changed. I live with Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Functional Neurological Disorder and complex PTSD, which means life and work can look very different from one day to the next. Crafting has become so much more than a hobby - it helps me through the really tough days and gives me a sense of focus, purpose and achievement.
After dreaming of owning an embroidery machine for years, I finally made that dream happen. In April 2022, I chose to focus my business mainly on machine embroidery, while still keeping a few much-loved handmade favourites such as needle minders and wish bracelets.
In 2025, my business became Wishful Stitches - a name that felt just right for the thoughtful, comforting and personalised pieces I love to create.
Today, I make machine embroidered keyrings, home decor, pocket hugs, needle minders, wish bracelets and thoughtful personalised gifts. Every item is created with care, purpose and a whole lot of heart.
I love making pieces that feel personal and meaningful, whether it is a one-off keepsake or several items made to match. Nothing is treated like just another order - each piece is made with the same care and attention as if it were the very first.
